Biography

Professor Ewout W. Steyerberg is Full Professor and Medical-Scientific Division Manager of the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care at University Medical Center Utrecht, an appointment he has held since June 2024. He previously held professorial chairs at Erasmus MC and Leiden University Medical Center. His research focuses on the development and validation of clinical prediction models for diagnosis and prognosis and on quantitative methods that support better clinical decisions, combining advanced regression and machine-learning techniques with biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, decision analysis, cost-effectiveness, comparative effectiveness and quality-of-care research. His collaborations extend across cardiology, oncology, neurology, surgery, internal medicine, paediatrics and traumatic brain injury. He holds an MSc in biomedical sciences and a PhD in prognostic modelling for clinical decision-making.
