Medical AI topics at ISMAI 2026

Six scientific themes form the intellectual structure of the Florence symposium. Each page explains the clinical relevance of the theme, the institutional question it raises, and how it is developed in the programme.

Editorial structure

Medical AI is not a single subject. The Florence programme reads it across six connected themes.

The scientific programme is designed so that clinical judgement, validation and patient safety are treated together with ethics, governance and professional formation. Each theme sits at the intersection of a clinical question, a scientific method and an institutional responsibility. Read individually, the topic pages act as short primers; read together, they describe the editorial line of ISMAI 2026.

None of the themes is treated as an appendix. Ethics is not a closing panel, and governance is not a footnote to a technical result. This orientation is what distinguishes a clinician-led, vendor-neutral symposium from a purely technical meeting or a commercial showcase.
