ISMAI 2026 is designed for clinicians, scientists, ethicists, legal scholars, regulators, patient representatives, trainees and healthcare leaders who want a clinically grounded discussion of medical AI, patient safety, governance, ethics, validation and responsible implementation.

ISMAI is a non-profit society dedicated to the responsible use of medical AI. Its Florence edition brings the clinical, scientific, ethical and institutional questions of medical AI into the same room, in language that is accessible across disciplines and grounded in the real work of patient care.
The programme is not a showcase for technology. It is a working meeting for the professionals responsible for whether medical AI can be introduced safely and accountably. That responsibility is shared between clinicians, methodologists, ethicists, regulators, patient representatives and the leaders of the institutions in which care is delivered.

Registration and abstract submission are open to individuals and teams whose work engages responsibly with medical AI in real clinical, educational or governance settings.
Why the Florence symposium is distinctive
ISMAI is a clinician-led, vendor-neutral charitable society. The editorial line of ISMAI 2026 places clinical judgement, patient safety and institutional accountability at the centre of the discussion of medical AI, rather than treating them as afterthoughts to technical capability.
The programme is structured to keep governance, ethics, validation and implementation together with the clinical use of AI along the real patient pathway. Sessions do not separate the technical from the ethical, the clinical from the institutional, or the scientific from the professional.

The call for abstracts is open through the official microsite. Presenting authors are expected to register for the symposium before the programme is finalised.
