Biography
Dr Jeffry Hogg is a clinician scientist whose work addresses the responsible implementation of artificial intelligence in healthcare. At the University of Birmingham he is Honorary Clinical Research Associate and programme lead for the MSc in AI Implementation (Healthcare), and he supports AI innovation at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. He graduated in medicine from Newcastle University in 2014, was elected a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2019, and completed a PhD in Health Services Research at Newcastle University in 2024. His doctoral research evaluated AI-enabled macula services and drew on his clinical academic training in ophthalmology. His current work focuses on the practical and governance dimensions of adoption: responsible implementation processes, organisational AI readiness, stakeholder perspectives, evaluation of AI-enabled workflows and the design of clinically safe services. He joined the AI policy and research team at Birmingham in 2024, with a particular remit for education and implementation.
