Biography

Professor Dr Kerstin Denecke is Professor of Medical Informatics at Bern University of Applied Sciences, where she co-leads the Institute for Patient-centred Digital Health and the Centre Health Technologies. Her research addresses text mining and natural language processing in healthcare, mobile health, conversational interfaces, applied artificial intelligence, participatory health informatics and the safety and quality of digital therapeutics. She read computer science and medical informatics and completed her doctorate at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Prior to her appointment in Bern in 2015, she held positions in medical informatics in Berlin, at the L3S Research Center and Leibniz University Hannover, and led the Digital Patient Modelling group at the University of Leipzig. She chairs the Working Group on Participatory Health and Social Media of the International Medical Informatics Association, serves as Associate Editor of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, and is an affiliate member of the School of Health Information Science at the University of Victoria.
